Telephone Buddies
In many cases homebound, elderly or disabled persons have few, if any, friends or family members living nearby. The RSVP Telephone Buddies program was created to enhance the lives of such people by reaching out to them, providing the friendly listening ear of someone who genuinely cares about their wellbeing.
RSVP Telephone Buddies not only provides friendship by phone, but also provides reassurance that help will be on the way in the event of an emergency. Telephone Buddies volunteers make calls at prearranged, regularly scheduled times. If calls go unanswered, an emergency plan of action is implemented immediately to ensure the client's safety and wellbeing.
Anyone can be a Telephone Buddy! RSVP Telephone Buddies is a wonderful way for those with limitations to provide a much-needed service. Seniors with physical limitations or who do not have access to transportation are able to participate in this incredible program. Volunteers make calls to clients from their own home, making it a perfect way for someone with limitations to be involved in volunteer activity and feel needed themselves, while also providing a very valuable service.
